Collect CBAM emissions data from every supplier, without the email chase
A portal where each supplier fills in or uploads emissions data per installation and product, in the structure of the EU communication template. You see who has replied, what is missing and what has changed, and you export one clean file for your CBAM declaration.
What it does
- One link per supplierA request for each installation and product
- Checked on arrivalCN codes, units and missing fields flagged
- Ready for your declarationOne export per year, with a full history
EU CBAM moved into its definitive regime on 1 January 2026. UK CBAM starts on 1 January 2027. In both, the importer reports the emissions embedded in steel, aluminium, cement, fertiliser and hydrogen it brings in, and the EU also covers electricity. Those numbers can only come from the plants that made the goods.
Most importers collect them by email and Excel. One template per supplier, per installation, per year, sent back in different versions. Krira Digital builds a supplier portal that replaces that chase: each supplier gets a link, fills in a web form or uploads the official template, and the data is checked before it reaches you.
We build software. We are not a CBAM verifier, an authorised declarant or a carbon consultant. We do not calculate your emissions or file in the registry for you. The portal holds the figures your suppliers give, checked against the rules you set, and the methodology stays yours and theirs.
We are a small software studio in Belagavi, India, and work with EU and UK firms remotely. We have not yet built a CBAM portal for a client, so we start with a short paid scoping step rather than a promise.
EU CBAM and UK CBAM side by side
| EU CBAM | UK CBAM | |
|---|---|---|
| Starts | Definitive regime from 1 January 2026 | 1 January 2027 |
| Goods | Iron and steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, hydrogen, electricity | Aluminium, cement, fertiliser, hydrogen, iron and steel |
| Who is caught | Importers above 50 tonnes of CBAM goods a year. Hydrogen and electricity importers always | Importers of £50,000 or more of CBAM goods in 12 months, or expected within 30 days |
| Status you need | Authorised CBAM declarant, through the national authority in your EU country | Registration with HMRC. Registration opens on 1 January 2028 |
| First deadline | 30 September 2027: declaration for 2026 imports, and certificates surrendered | 31 May 2028: return and payment for calendar year 2027. Quarterly from 2028 |
| Supplier data | Actual verified emissions, or default values with a mark-up of 10% in 2026, 20% in 2027 and 30% from 2028 (1% for fertilisers) | Verified emissions intensity from the supplier, or default values |
| Records | Kept in the CBAM registry with your declaration | Kept for 6 years. £500 fixed penalty for not keeping them |

What the supplier portal does
For exporters in India, Turkey, China and elsewhere
If you make steel, aluminium or fertiliser and sell to the EU or UK, your buyers will ask for emissions data per installation. Each buyer may send a different spreadsheet.
We can build the other side too: one place for your plant and product data, which fills each buyer's request or the EU template from it and records what you sent to whom. Your own monitoring and your verifier still produce the numbers.
How a build works
- 1Scope with your dataYou send your supplier list, CN codes and a few filled templates. We agree the checks and the export with you or your declarant.
- 2Pilot with a few suppliersA handful of suppliers use the portal first. We fix what confuses them before the rest are invited.
- 3Roll out and exportAll suppliers are invited, reminders run, and you export the year's data for your declaration or return.

A fixed quote, agreed before we start
The price depends on how many suppliers and installations you have, the checks you need and the export format. After a short call and a look at your current templates, you get a fixed quote in GBP or EUR and a date, in writing, paid in three stages: start, review and launch.
Questions
Do I still need to comply with CBAM if I import less than 50 tonnes?
In the EU, no, for most goods. Since the Omnibus simplification, importers of under 50 tonnes of CBAM goods a year do not need to be authorised declarants. Hydrogen and electricity importers always do. The UK uses a different test: £50,000 of CBAM goods in 12 months.
Is the CBAM communication template mandatory?
No. The European Commission says the Excel template is not compulsory but recommended. Its 'Summary_Communication' sheet holds what the importer needs, so most suppliers use it. Our portal accepts the template or the same data through a web form.
What happens if my supplier does not send emissions data?
You use default values. In the EU these carry a mark-up of 10% in 2026, 20% in 2027 and 30% from 2028, with 1% for fertilisers, so they usually cost more than actual data. The UK also lets you use default values when you have no verified data. The portal shows which suppliers are still missing, so you can chase them in time.
When is the first CBAM declaration due?
In the EU, by 30 September 2027, for goods imported in 2026. It states the goods, their embedded emissions and the certificates due, and the certificates must be surrendered by the same date. Certificates can be bought from February 2027.
How is UK CBAM different from EU CBAM?
UK CBAM starts on 1 January 2027 and is a tax collected by HMRC, not a certificate system. The threshold is £50,000 of goods in 12 months, not 50 tonnes, and electricity is not in the list. The first return and payment, for 2027, are due by 31 May 2028, then quarterly.
Can you import our existing CBAM Excel templates?
Yes. The portal can read the EU communication template and the spreadsheets your suppliers already send, once we have mapped their layout. We check the imported figures against your current files before you rely on them.
Who verifies CBAM emissions data?
Accredited CBAM verifiers, chosen by the plant operator. They check the operator's calculations and issue a verification report. Krira Digital is not a verifier and does not verify or certify any figure.
How much does CBAM software cost?
Published plans run from free tiers to about €3,000 a year, or £229 to £999 a month, and many vendors don't publish prices (cbamguide.com, October 2026). A bespoke portal is a one-off build. We give a fixed quote after scoping.
