Turn the spreadsheet your business runs on into a web app — and keep your formulas

We rebuild your workbook as a web app with logins, one shared database and a screen for each job. Every formula is checked against your own sheet before you switch over.

What you keep, what you gain

  • Your formulasSame inputs, same results, tested row by row
  • Many users at onceNo locked file, no conflicting copies
  • Excel exportDownload your data as a spreadsheet any time
Is your workbook a quote calculator?

Most small companies run on one workbook. It holds the prices, the customers, the jobs and a few macros only one person understands. It works until three people need it at the same time, or a wrong paste breaks a formula nobody notices for a month.

Krira Digital is a small software studio in India. We turn workbooks like that into web apps. We have done it for a school whose admissions, fees and report cards lived in Excel, and for a window fabricator whose quotes are priced from the shop's own Excel rate formulas. We work with US companies remotely, with calls in your morning.

One paste breaks itFormulas get overwritten and nobody knows when or by whom.

Two workbooks now running as web apps

School ERPA school in India replaced its Excel workbook. Admissions, fee payments, receipts, attendance and report cards now run in one app. The report card layout was copied from the school's own sheet, and a full backup still downloads as one Excel file.

On Microsoft 365? Try these before you rebuild anything

Most US offices already pay for Microsoft 365, and it solves some Excel problems for free. Put the workbook in OneDrive or SharePoint and open it in Excel for the web: several people can edit at once, and version history shows who changed what.

Protect the sheets and lock the formula cells, so a paste can't overwrite them. For a simple data-entry form, Microsoft Forms or a basic Power App on top of a SharePoint list may be enough.

These stop working well when the workbook holds real business rules, when people need different screens and permissions, when macros do the heavy lifting, or when staff need a clean phone screen in the field. That is where a custom web app pays off.

How we convert a workbook

  1. 1Send the workbookThe real file, or a copy with dummy data. We list every tab, formula and macro and ask what each one is for.
  2. 2Build and compareWe run your old rows through the app. Every result must match your sheet before we move on.
  3. 3Move the data and switchOld records are imported and totals checked. Your team tests on a link before the workbook is retired.

A fixed quote after one call

The price depends on the number of tabs, rules, macros and screens. Send the workbook or a copy with dummy data, and we reply with a fixed quote and a delivery date in writing. Payment in stages.

Questions

Can you turn my Excel spreadsheet into a web app without losing the formulas?

Yes. We rebuild every formula as code, then run your existing rows through the app and compare the results with your sheet. Nothing goes live until the numbers match. The window fabricator's app still prices quotes from the shop's own Excel rate formulas.

What happens to my VBA macros?

Macros don't run in a web browser, so we rebuild what each one does. A macro that formats a report becomes a PDF button; one that runs every Monday becomes a scheduled job on the server. We read the VBA first and confirm with you what it is meant to do.

How much does it cost to replace Excel with a custom web app?

Public prices vary a lot. kolonell.com quotes EUR 3,810–6,100 for a small conversion and EUR 25,000–70,000 for a full system, and US cost guides put a first custom CRM at $15,000–40,000. We give a fixed quote after a short call and a look at your workbook.

How long does it take to convert a spreadsheet into a web app?

It depends on the number of tabs, rules and macros. One European studio quotes 6 to 8 weeks for a small workbook. We put the delivery date in your written quote.

Should I use a no-code tool like SpreadsheetWeb, Noloco or Airtable, or custom code?

Use no-code if your sheet is a simple list or one calculator and you want to change it yourself. Go custom when the pricing rules are complex, many people use it, or it has to print quotes, receipts or invoices. Custom also avoids a monthly fee per user.

Will several people be able to edit at once without breaking it?

Yes. The data moves into a database, so each person works on their own records at the same time. Formulas can't be overwritten, and every change is logged with the person and the time.

Can I still export to Excel?

Yes. Any list in the app can be downloaded as an Excel or CSV file. The school ERP we built still downloads a full backup as one Excel file.

Who owns the code and the data?

You do. The code, the database and the hosting account are set up in your company's name. If you stop working with us, everything keeps running and another developer can take it over.

Can I convert Excel to a web app for free?

For a small sheet, yes. AppSheet is free while you build and test with up to 10 users, Glide has a free plan for 2 team members, and Excel for the web lets several people edit a shared file at no extra cost on Microsoft 365. For a whole team using it every day, expect a per-user monthly fee or a one-time custom build.

Can AI like ChatGPT or Copilot turn my spreadsheet into an app?

AI can draft a simple app from a small sheet. It doesn't know your business rules, and it gets formulas wrong in ways that look right. Someone still has to test every result against your sheet and set up logins, backups and hosting. That checking is most of the work, and it is what we do.

How do you work with US companies from India?

Remotely. India is 9.5 to 10.5 hours ahead of US Eastern time, so we book calls in your morning and work while you are offline. You get a test link and a written update after each step. See all our work for US, UK, EU and UAE companies.

Is our workbook a database problem rather than a spreadsheet problem?

Often. If your workbook has lookup tabs that act like linked tables, it is closer to a database. The same rebuild applies as for replacing a Microsoft Access database.
